OMRON BF511

BF511 is a scale with eight sensors contacting hands and feet. It uses 50 kHz BIA to estimate body-fat percentage, skeletal-muscle percentage and visceral-fat level alongside weight and BMI. It provides a whole-body overview; separate limb results are not documented.

What the results tell you

BF511 reports weight and BMI alongside estimated body-fat percentage, skeletal-muscle percentage and a visceral-fat level. The last item is a manufacturer scale, rather than kilograms of abdominal fat or an X-ray image. Eight sensors contact hands and feet, but reports are whole-body. Scale capacity is 150 kg. Correct age, height and other personal information form part of the calculation.

How the test works

You stand barefoot on the platform and, where provided, hold the hand contacts as instructed. The analyser records electrical impedance and uses equations with weight and other inputs to estimate composition. Fat and muscle are not separately weighed. Contact, posture and correctly entered height are part of the procedure.

When the test is useful

BF511 can support whole-body weight-management discussions when separate limb outputs are unnecessary. Skeletal-muscle percentage and visceral-fat level are not interchangeable with muscle kilograms or fat area from another system. Check the stored profile and conditions at follow-up; small changes are not standalone health conclusions.

Preparing for your visit

Obtain preparation instructions for the exact model and keep the time of day similar. Meals, exercise and hydration can affect results, making a post-workout reading poorly comparable with a rested visit. Maintain your usual hydration and record changed circumstances. Discuss electronic implants and other restrictions with the location using the device manual before testing.

Reading results and understanding limitations

BIA is an indirect estimate dependent on the model and conditions. A small change can reflect water or routine variability rather than fat loss. Results from different instruments are not a single interchangeable series. More frequencies or outputs alone do not establish greater accuracy. A report is not a standalone diagnosis, and estimated muscle quantity does not measure strength.

Choosing a testing location

Check personal inputs and an explanation of the visceral-fat scale. Documented BF511 outputs do not provide separate limb analysis.

Frequently asked questions

Is BF511 suitable for comparing individual limbs?

Check personal inputs and an explanation of the visceral-fat scale. Documented BF511 outputs do not provide separate limb analysis.

Can I compare results from another device?

They are not automatically one trend. Models can use different equations and procedures; establish a new baseline when changing instruments.
