Tanita BC-1000

BC-1000 is a body-composition scale that transmits results wirelessly to a compatible receiver. Its manual lists fat, muscle and body water; capacity is 200 kg. BC-1000 Plus is a different version; accessories may vary in a package labelled “PROFI”.

What the results tell you

BC-1000 estimates body fat, muscle and water and sends results to a compatible wireless receiver. Ask how the location gives you access to those results. The scale has a 200 kg capacity. Separate arm and leg analysis must not be assumed for this model. BC-1000 Plus is a different version, and a sales package labelled “PROFI” does not by itself establish the hardware generation.

How the test works

You stand barefoot on the platform and, where provided, hold the hand contacts as instructed. The analyser records electrical impedance and uses equations with weight and other inputs to estimate composition. Fat and muscle are not separately weighed. Contact, posture and correctly entered height are part of the procedure.

When the test is useful

Wireless reporting is practical for longer-term tracking when you can access the receiver and retained history. BC-1000 provides whole-body estimates, so establish whether that scope meets your goal. Water and fat estimates can add context to weight trends. Small daily fluctuations should not independently determine diet changes.

Preparing for your visit

Obtain preparation instructions for the exact model and keep the time of day similar. Meals, exercise and hydration can affect results, making a post-workout reading poorly comparable with a rested visit. Maintain your usual hydration and record changed circumstances. Discuss electronic implants and other restrictions with the location using the device manual before testing.

Reading results and understanding limitations

BIA is an indirect estimate dependent on the model and conditions. A small change can reflect water or routine variability rather than fat loss. Results from different instruments are not a single interchangeable series. More frequencies or outputs alone do not establish greater accuracy. A report is not a standalone diagnosis, and estimated muscle quantity does not measure strength.

Choosing a testing location

A working receiver connection and access to results matter. Ask whether the fee covers weighing and reporting alone or also consultation and retained history.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to access wireless BC-1000 results?

A working receiver connection and access to results matter. Ask whether the fee covers weighing and reporting alone or also consultation and retained history.

Can I compare results from another device?

They are not automatically one trend. Models can use different equations and procedures; establish a new baseline when changing instruments.
